Who are the main thinkers in international development? What do they say, and why do they disagree?
Are thinkers from the past relevant today?

In this module, we:

  • cover some of the most important thinkers in international development
  • discuss why they provide contrasting ways of understanding the state of the world
  • explore different visions of what development means.

You will be introduced to thinkers such as Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Frantz Fanon, Naila Kabeer, Diane Elson and Amartya Sen.
