Research Poster Competition 2024

Showcasing our interdisciplinary research community and the huge range of postgraduate research being carried out at ÐÔ°®ÊÓƵ

This year's competition is now closed. You can view the shortlisted posters which were on display at ÐÔ°®ÊÓƵDocFest in the Student Centre on Thursday 6 June in the online gallery below.

This year's prizes were judged by Dr Joanne Young and Dr Chris Brown, who facilitate poster workshops for the ÐÔ°®ÊÓƵ Researcher School. Winners - including People's Choice were announced at the prize-giving ceremony on 6 June.

Winners

  • First place: Alice Clark (Life Sciences)
  • Second place: Joshua Francis (Psychology)
  • People's Choice: Magdalena Pfaff (Life Sciences)

Judging criteria

Judges will assess the posters according to the following criteria:

First impression

  • Is the poster easy to read?
  • Is space used effectively within the poster?
  • Does the poster present a logical flow of information?
  • Is the poster overall visually attractive and engaging?

Title and content

  • Is the title engaging?
  • Are the aims/objectives of the research clearly stated?
  • Are the methods clearly explained and with sufficient detail?
  • How well are the results communicated on the poster? 
  • Are any images, graphs or figures clear and easy to understand?

Overall

  • Does the poster communicate a clear 'take-home' message?
  • Is the poster accessible to a non-specialist academic audience?

Deadline for submitting your entry Monday 20 May, 12 noon
Entries reviewed by judging panel Monday 20 May - Friday 24 May
Shortlisted posters announced, and online gallery launched w/c Monday 27 May

Voting for People's Choice award - online

Monday 3 June - Thursday 6 June, 4.25pm

Exhibition at ÐÔ°®ÊÓƵDocFest, and in-person voting for People's Choice
