Reminder: Avoid updating to MacOS Catalina (10.15)

ITS expect Apple to release macOS Catalina (10.15) on Tuesday 10 September, and this should be available to download and install during the course of the week.
A key component of this release is Apple’s decision to stop supporting 32-bit applications on this and all future releases of macOS. While this is not an issue for the vast majority of applications accessible from centrally managed workstations, there are a few (e.g. Exceed on Demand) that will stop working completely. There are also a number of underlying changes made within the OS that could impact day-to-day work for staff. Anyone updating their personal home Apple computers to macOS 10.15 will also be affected.
We will provide further advice in the coming weeks about updating your workstation to macOS Catalina.
In the meantime, ITS recommend that all staff currently running macOS Sierra (10.12) and above should upgrade only to macOS Mojave (10.14) directly via the Mac App Store.

The latest version of MacOS (Catalina, 10.15) was released yesterday.
As a reminder to staff, we recommend you do not update ÐÔ°®ÊÓƵ-owned Mac computers to this version. Apple have removed support for 32-bit applications in this update, which could impact your ability to work.
If you have an Apple desktop computer, you will not be able to log in if you update to 10.15.
Please avoid updating to Catalina until we provide further information.
